$100 ground Mount these are Eco worthy Amazon specials they're 118 bucks we actually got them with a $20 coupon they don't look the prettiest but I'm actually really really curious to see how a very entrylevel panel stand works because to a lot of people the difference between this $120 stand and the $250 stands that a lot of other companies sell is actually a pretty big amount of money especially when you consider that most of us need more than one to get the job done if you guys have been following the channel you know that we got a small off-grid solar kit from eg4 we got 2,000 WS of grape solar panels included in that kit we'll leave the links to this panel setup and the kit that we got down below if you guys want to check it out and this is the first and hopefully not too many attempts to find the best budget friendly setup if you guys are just getting into the market for panels and you don't know what you want and you don't necessarily even want to do this yourself uh there's a link to a free calculator down below it's solar reviews they actually have a really sick website go in there punching your information find your house on Google Maps someone will actually contact you for free and give you a quote and all that jazz if this seems like too much work otherwise welcome back to the lab guys today we are going to be jumping into these ecoworthy panel stands you guys know here at the lab our opinions cannot be bought so let's get started and see just how well these things [Music] do so this is what's in the box um actually kind of impressed but we all know that first impressions can be deceiving the instruction manual that this thing came with was actually pretty legible A lot of times it's super hit or miss when you get these really cheap Amazon products but I'm literally just following the manual for this one it's super simple even if you don't though it's just a matter of getting these feet bolted up to the legs getting the legs bolted up to the pivots and then realizing you didn't have to do so much work so little shortcut I'm just following the instructions because I have never built this kind of panel stand before and I just took these little swivel feet off of these rails to bolt them onto here as per the instructions the next instruction is literally to bolt this piece back on so if you end up buying these just skip that [Music] part so I got all the bolts snugged up obviously except for the leg bolts because I don't know entirely where this is going to go I'll slug those up once we're done I'm immediately nervous about the size of these things it has size recommendations for all the way up to a 400 W panel we're trying to do 200 W panels and it says you can get four 200 W panels as long as they're no wider than 29.4 in our panels are like just at 28 in so I think some of the photos were slightly misleading because although it'll fit widthwise I'm concerned about the height because this is like half the length of the panel we're going to try to put on it there's going to be a lot sticking off the top but it says it's going to work so I just have to trust the process and see what happens I [Music] guess I know a lot of more expensive bigger panel stands are just like bigger in comparison to the panel to give you more rigidity more like actual structural strength but because this is such a small setup I actually think we're going to take advantage of it by making this our dedicated garage wheelie Mount so I picked up four of these locking rubber Caster wheels I figure if all four of them lock the odds of this thing taking off and flying down the driveway are very slim at this point obviously you could just take this thing into the yard stake it into the ground bolt it to a concrete slab a concrete footing and you pretty much be on your way that's what we're going to do with these other two and if you guys don't know this about me yet you will learn that I love making so if there's a chance to make something I'm going to take it the only change that needed to happen for us to go ahead and secure this to the New Foundation was we had to twist the feet they just sat in the wrong orientation it's not 100% perfect you can see the bolts are now only bolted through the foot on one side but I'm not worried about it it's going to be totally fine I went ahead and secured these to the 4x4s with some lag bolts and just kept making [Music] progress 4x4s should do a good job of keeping this thing from twisting as we wheel it around and then I put these 2x4 strings across just to stop this thing from doing the splits and just accidentally and causing a catastrophe so now it's just a matter of Wheels panels and get this thing outside in the [Music] sun all right let's see if we can do this without getting anybody hurt dude that's actually not bad these are the Grape Solar 200 W panels and for a small you could tell if I didn't put it on the 4x4s and the wheels this would be very close to the ground so in that case you might want to shift the whole thing up much higher like we will probably do when we get to mounting these in the backyard this actually makes a great candidate for like a little DIY wheelie boy [Music] [Music] it's definitely not perfect but actually I'm extremely excited for this for people that can't necessarily afford the really expensive stuff cuz this works and it's decent for the price now obviously we put ours on the Caster wheels and the 4x4s but even on there like this is what the wheels loed it's it honestly feels really stable so at the end of the day look $100 solar panel stands are they worth it if you bolted them to something they would be 10 times better they have a huge variety of applications seeing as they're two legs instead of just one in the middle there's a lot less stress to mount this on like the side of a building like on the outside of like a balcony even a flat roof that you want to angle the panels towards the Sun a bit there's a ton that you could do with something like this but there's also some flaws so three of the biggest things I really like about this is that it's super easy to assemble it took me an hour including getting a coffee and also reading the instructions and also filming the process it's a really good foundation like for example I put wheels and 4x4 is under it it's a good $100 to get 90% of the job done and all you got to do is buy the 4x4s in the wheels and for the price it's it's worth it it can get someone into the market that might not have been able to afford the 200 $300 $400 stands and I love that this opens a doorway to something that most people see as very expensive because in some ways it really is and it lets some of those people in at a more affordable price point some of the things I don't like though the components are meh pieces like this stupid little end cap that go on all the ends and also go on like the tops of all these rails they literally will blow out in the wind like if I just y yeah they don't stay it's not that nothing's the best but it works and for the price point you can't complain I also dislike that it sags you can see clear as day that the middle of this thing has a very big bow in it now you could easily throw a 2x4 or something in the middle to support it give it some structural rigidity but this is brand new if I left this outside and a little bit of snow fell on it or even just hot and cold Cycles being outside all the time event this thing is going to Sag a lot worse and that doesn't help with efficiency of the panels and also just looks terrible at some of the higher level ones you have a third row of brackets and feet that go in the middle to support the weight of the obvious two panels in the middle that aren't getting supported right now and I also dislike that this is lower to the ground if you look at one of the other ones that we did assemble that doesn't have the wheels on it you'll see that I almost have to offset the panels with like this little bit here and then a massive chunk at the top because the feet in the front are actually so stubby that it just puts these so close to the ground and that's not a big deal but they advertise that it works for up to 200 watt panels which these are and you just have to really offset them up high which then affects the weight balance they could tip over a little bit easier stuff like that so otherwise dude for 100 bucks if you're trying to get in the market and that's what you can afford scoop them if you want something with some middle supports I will leave some links to some other panel stand options in the description below either way that is all I got for you guys I will catch you guys next time thank you guys so much for watching peace out and stay [Music] charged oh ...
