well here's my review of the Heckle solar panel bird and Critter guard as you can see this unit comes nicely packed in a roll it's fairly durable material this is not plastic this is an actual kind of a has some kind of a plastic coating over what appears to be like a stainless steel or wire mesh it's fairly stiff so it's it's fairly durable and what you do when you attach sees to your solar panels as you put this hook through basically goes through the netting and then it hooks to the underside of your panel and then you can push this little clip here you can push this clip down through to tighten and hold securely your solar C now I looked at a bunch of different uh material that could be used for a solar guard for my system and the reason I went with hecko with their uh wire mesh um solar guard over some of the other products that are out there is because of you can see how much air flow it's the air flow that it will allow I have microinverters on my solar panels and the biggest problem with those systems is that they tend to overheat and so you want as much airf flow as possible to go underneath the solar panels now there's another issue people have when the ATT attach the um the solar guard to the panels if you go let's say mine is has a 5 in um standoffs which is standard and I bought the 8 in wide rolls and the reason why is if you just put these right down to the roof line and you don't uh allow for some kind of flexing bending of this material if you don't do that then you will have a tendency for the critters to get underneath the guard so one of the things that you can do if you buy this type of material is you can fold this to the roof line so in my case I would fold 5 in I would crease it at about 5 in and then that creates a um a natural barrier for the critters so they can't crawl underneath this and get trapped inside your your uh solar panels if you they get underneath there squirrels especially like to eat the wires can really damage your system so uh so I I bought the 8 in and we use these uh 2 by six or 2x4 board basically 2x6 boards that we cut down and then we create a hinge system to be able to fold this um cut these into 10t lengths and fold these and crease them right where we want them to be at the roof line so that the critters will stand on the folded portion of the Guard if they try to Burl underneath and that will keep them from getting underneath this guard and getting into the system underneath so that's another advantage of the Heckle wire mesh um solar guard over some of the other solar guards you have really good air flow you have a nice durable material that can be folded and easily adapted around pipes and different things you can cut it um and fit it wherever you need to so I highly recommend this product around your roof mounted solar system ...
