[Music] hey everyone Matt here from exploring Alternatives in this video we're going to show you this really Innovative solar air heater uh we think this is extremely interesting because it's a totally self-contained unit it's completely offgrade it doesn't plug into anything and it gives you free heat from the Sun even in the winter so it's basically a two-part system the top is just a standard solar panel that powers the air intake and the fan and the bottom part is basically a box that absorbs energy and heat from the Sun and that heat is then pushed into the space that you're trying to heat we saw this for the first time on a tiny house this summer and thought it was just a really smart idea so we came to a meet up with M from EOS which is the company that makes these and we're going to ask him a few questions and find out more about it it's it works it's self-sufficient so it produces its own electricity and heat obviously so solar thermal panels are very efficient to produce heat and obviously solar photovoltaic panels are producing electricity so we've tied them both together to produce this system and you can hook it up anywhere um as long as it's facing south on a facade it'll produce heat from 1,00 square fet of living space we can you usually heat about 30% you know of that space so reduce 30% of your energy bill if it's a smaller space then obviously we can reach uh very comfortable temperatures and we've installed it on garage uh uh you know green houses and and you know workshops and and whatnot I I tell a lot of our customers if you can install a dryer you can install uh the system just because it's an in andout so it's an air intake air outake and then after that there's a controller so there's a small cable to be passed in and and that's it so this is I mean like we were talking it is a prototype where the final version is in production right now but they give you a rough idea we we just put it on the stand so you guys could see really quickly I've got an intake an air intake in the fan and then I've got the outtake here so the air is going to be taken from the space to be heated from here temperature sensors are going to be reading the temperature inside the space I want to heat and there's also a sensor inside the solar air panel that gives me the temperature obviously inside the panel and with a difference of temperature of that um of between these two sensors then it will decide whether it activates the the fan or not so in this case here we're sitting outside um we're right now we're T1 is the sensor inside the panel and I've got 23 3.1 de c um and if I look at the outdoor temperature right now on T2 which is my sensor outside I've got 13° C so I've got enough temperature between outdoor temperature and inside the solar panel to generate you know uh heat so I'm I have a gain to be made so the fan just start when I came in this morning it was pretty sunny and it was 10° CSUS we went all the way up to 80° C in the solar panel so obviously with the Sun the high higher the efficiency we'll get but a lot of people ask us does it work in you know cloudy days today's you know fairly Cloudy and the the heat is still being generated very very good in the panel because we've got a difference of 15° C between the outdoor temperature and the um and the panel so yeah it works in just about every condition and even the photovoltaic is producing enough electricity to get the fan to work so we're doing very well although it's cloudy if you want to know more about this solar heater check out the description of this video and please give this video a thumbs up if you liked it and don't forget to subscribe to see more like this [Music] ...
